I did it!

I did it! I got my first Accounting Co-op job! I’m excited of the knowledge and lessons I will learn as I take on this opportunity. But..

It’s in 100 Mile House. 2 hours away North of Kamloops. A smaller town than Kamloops. Much smaller…… It’s okay though. I’m open to all opportunities (that’s what I keep telling myself anyway). This is a great opportunity and definitely a great experience. I am so honoured they have chosen me among all the candidates, and I will do my best to go above and beyond as I work with the team.

My current co-workers asked me, “are you not scared of moving there by yourself? of moving to a new town not knowing anyone? of being alone?”. My main answer is no. For us to be able to maximize our time here on earth, we must be open to all learning opportunities – good or bad. We must be willing to put ourselves out there in order to live our lives to the fullest. And we must be open to the fact that life could literally take us anywhere- anywhere and everywhere. And I definitely am very open to that.

This may not be the “big move” that I was hoping for – moving to Vancouver, or Toronto, or New York. But it’s a start. You gotta start somewhere you know. It’s a step in a good direction. Time will come when I will be able to move to those big cities I just mentioned. But for now, I am super grateful for this opportunity.

I haven’t told my family yet, apart from my mom and Iesha. I haven’t told most of my friends yet. This really was not planned at all. I received the call Friday, I gave my three weeks notice Saturday, I found a room Sunday, and I move there in a month. January 2nd, 2020. New year, new start. New town, new experiences. This may only be for four or eight months, but I definitely will keep myself open to all the adventures this new experience has to offer! Until next time!
